Seal Watch Volunteer Training

  • Online and in person Jenner, CA, 95450 United States (map)

Do you love and want to connect people with the dynamic and beautiful Sonoma Coast? Do you care about the harbor seals at the mouth of the Russian River? Join us as a volunteer for Stewards Seal Watch Program. Volunteers support the safe viewing of harbor seals during weekends in the spring and summer months at Goat Rock State Beach near the mouth of the Russian River. Volunteers can join shifts at Goat Rock Beach, beach near the river mouth, and at an education table at the Jenner boat launch next to the visitor center. With your help, park visitors can learn about harbor seals and their pups, the natural history of the area, and how the Marine Mammal Protection Act ensures their safety.

Volunteer shift times: The Seal Watch shifts are on Saturdays and Sundays, the season extends from March through Labor Day.
Shifts at Goat Rock Beach are each 3 hours with shifts from 11 AM – 2 PM and from 2 PM – 5 PM
Shifts at the Jenner boat launch table in Jenner are from 10 AM — 2 PM
